Fossil Sites in Australia
Australia has a rich and very unique fossil record, with some of the best sites in the world, partially because of its relative isolation over millennia.
Ranging from the very beginning of our planet (3.2 billion years ago) until today the fossils found in Australia are well known, and include the world's best example of dinosaur tracks, found near Winton, Queensland.
Below you can find a non-exhaustive list of australian fossil sites. You should know that the location for some sites is kept secret, due to the likelihood or theft and/or damage.
